The YouTube YouTube app has received support for two multitasking features on the iPad (Slide Over and Split View).
Now users can watch video, while working with another program. In order to rewind, switch, pause and adjust the sound close the second application is not required.
so, how it works. Apple introduced multitasking features Split View, Slide over and «Picture in Picture» with the release of iOS 9 in September last year. You can use them only on iPad, and not all applications support them.
Slide Over allows you to call the side menu, swiping your finger across the display. In this menu you can open the second application. For example, if the user is viewing the email, and then suddenly remembers, that he needs to remember to buy milk home, he can in the blink of an eye open «Notes» and make a memo, without closing the mail program.
Using Split View, you can simultaneously run two different applications on the same screen. So, user can chat simultaneously, let’s say, via email and instant messenger.
What does Slide Over and Split View support for YouTube users mean? Now you can watch videos on YouTube and work at the same time, eg, in Safari browser, read mail in Mail, chat in messenger and t.d.
Slide Over supported by iPad Pro, iPad Air 1 and 2, as well as iPad mini 2 and newer models. Split View works on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4. Function support «Picture in Picture», allows you to watch YouTube videos in a small window in the corner of the screen on top of the main application, not provided. However, It’s not a problem, because the presence of Slide Over and Split View is enough.
