How to wake up the screen of the iPhone XS, iPhone XR and iPhone X: five ways

New flagship Apple smartphones are significantly different from previous iPhone models, so there may be questions about, how to use it.

In iPhone XS, iPhone XR and iPhone X missing button «Home», and those, who usually used it to turn on the screen, will have to get used to new ways.

That’s right, familiar circle at the bottom of the display, present in the iPhone since its inception, disappeared. Starting with the iPhone 5s, a fingerprint sensor was built into the button, and unlock the device was easy. Pressed the button – smartphone scanned finger – simply and easily.

Now, no buttons «Home», no fingerprint scanner anymore. How now to activate the screen, you ask. There are several ways to do this, which we describe below.

Touch the screen

New feature, present only in iPhone XS, iPhone XR and iPhone X, is a great alternative to the button «Home». To activate the screen, simply touch it, like the Apple Watch. By touching, Wait, while the device scans your face.

Press the power button

The power button is still on the right side of the iPhone. Now it is even larger, and it became more convenient to click on it.

Lift the device (gesture Raising to activate)

This feature was first introduced in iOS 10 and with the release of the iPhone XS, iPhone XR and iPhone X get a second wind. Just lift the device and look at the screen – and it will be unlocked! The screen is activated using the function Raise to Wake (Lift to activate), and then the Face ID scanner recognizes the owner and unlocks the iPhone.

Check, whether the option Lift for activation is enabled on the Settings path → Screen and Brightness.

«Hello, Siri»

When your hands are wet or dirty, turn on iPhone XS screen, iPhone XR and iPhone X will help Siri voice assistant.  Check, is the feature enabled «Listen «Hello, Siri»» can be on the way Settings → Siri and Search.

Connect to power supply

Among other things, iphone xs screen, iPhone XR and iPhone X will turn on when connected to a power source using a USB cable or wireless charging.
